THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Update Sterling Ridge. The hit gas line has been clamped and crews are starting repairs. Sterling Ridge East bound will remain blocked from N. Chantsong to Forestgate for next few hours.

At 3:00 P.M. The Woodlands Fire Department responded to the intersection of Forestgate and Sterling Ridge where a contractor struck a large gas line. Centerpoint maps show it to be a 6” gas line. Firefighters from the HAZMAT team are monitoring the area using both handheld monitors as well as large area monitors to make sure there is no gas buildup. At this point no evacuation is necessary and the danger area is only the intersection. This is a major transmission line and we are now getting some reports that gas service in some surrounding homes has been affected. Centerpoint is stating that it may take several hours to resolve incident and restore service. The intersection at Forestgate and Sterling Ridge is shut down and Sterling Ridge is blocked from Old Sterling Circle to N Warbler Bend.
