Looks like the major transitions of 2022 so far have settled down – new year, new season, new Daylight Saving Time – and now we’re in the gradual morph through spring. Warmer weather is the name of the game, and we have some fine events on tap this week to entertain all types of people here in The Woodlands.

Coming out of lockdowns, it’s more essential than ever for school-aged kids to enjoy socialization, and the South Branch of the Montgomery County Library has just the ticket – a free movie ticket to a special presentation of the Disney film “Cruella.” This special showing in the large meeting room is for teens 13-17 years old, and registration is required. Come join the fun and your friends while watching a great movie on the big screen. Snacks will be provided.

It took a rescheduling or two, but at long last this year’s annual Interfaith of The Woodlands gala, The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence, takes place tonight at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. At this venerable event, local luminaries honor our Hometown Heroes in the traditional, grand presentation that they deserve after decades of service to our community. George P. Mitchell inducted the first class of Hometown Heroes in 1999, as part of The Woodlands’ 25th Anniversary celebration. Since this time, 139 individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations have received this honor.

Saturday, April 2
Residents of The Woodlands are encouraged to develop emergency preparedness plans for their families and neighbors. The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch along with The Woodlands Fire Department can assist residents with these plans through their Get Ready – The Woodlands program, which provides information on how to be prepared for both natural and man-made emergencies. This event that’s perfect for the entire family is going down at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest, starting 10:00am. In addition to basic emergency preparedness steps outlined by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on the ready.gov website, the program also includes information that pertains specifically to The Woodlands, including how to obtain information on local services and ways neighbors can work together before and after an emergency.

Saturday, April 2
Join The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce at Market Street starting at 10:00am for its fun-for-the-whole-family Health | Wellness | Fitness Expo. This pop-up event is open to the public. Bring your family, friends or workout buddy and visit health and fitness vendors, check out the free health screenings available, or join in on our kid-friendly activities! The event will take place rain or shine.
