THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The statistics show approximately 20 children will be born deaf to hearing parents in Montgomery County each year. Of those families, 95% will choose the Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) option for their children. But where can families go to get these highly specialized services? This life-changing intervention and education is happening right here in Montgomery County at the All Ears Listening & Language Center. All Ears provides hope for a brighter future for children and their families born with hearing loss. For children born profoundly deaf to those with mild hearing loss, All Ears has tailored programs and services to train the brain to listen, interpret sounds, develop clear speech and grow literacy skills that last a lifetime. The model provides LSL Intervention for infants and toddlers, a LSL education program at 18 months and older, and full inclusion program through partnership with the Early Learning Program at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, where the children learn alongside their hearing peers. The ultimate goal of the All Ears mission is to prepare the children for mainstream education by kindergarten. The programs and services All Ears provide are fundamental to a successful LSL outcome. The All Ears staff of high specialized professionals includes Speech Language Pathologist, Auditory-Verbal Therapists and master’s degree level teachers specializing in LSL intervention, language and literacy. As a non-profit organization, commits to providing their unique services to all families who need them. Through scholarships and financial assistance, All Ears fills the need and has never turned a child away because of a family’s inability to pay. Through a loving and caring community of loyal supporters, All Ears has been providing their individualized services since 2014.

On Friday, March 25, 2022 at The Woodlands West Wing, a record crowd of 240 guests came together to celebrate All Ears at their annual Toast & Taste event. This year’s event was full of good olde fashion fun with a 20’s “Speakeasy” theme, where guests donned flapper dresses and zoot suits, raising much needed funds for the children of All Ears. The program’s emcee was local gal and Fox 26 anchor, Sally MacDonald, returning emcee from All Ears 2019 gala. The event was supported by presenting sponsor Newpark Resources, as well as Arena Energy Foundation, Waste Connections, Be An Angel, Charbonneau Industries, Vorys Legal Counsel, Charbonneau Interiors, Cassio Creations Fine Jewelry, and many others. The evening’s honorees, Mrs. Shelley Mathay, the founder of All Ears and Mrs. Rita Van Sickle, former director of ELP, were recognized for their vision and making All Ears a reality in our community. After an exciting program and live auction, the guests enjoyed a lively afterparty in the “Speakeasy” with the “Take Your Chances” casino, “No Prohibition” liquor pull, Glam Gal auction, live ragtime band and more! The event raised over $225,000 for All Ears’ programs and scholarships.
