Parati Qualifies Teenage Athletes for Usrowing Youth Nationals
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- It’s spring in The Woodlands! No doubt you will see Parati Competitive Rowing athletes training on Lake Woodlands every afternoon after school. This year’s young team fielded 23 boats for the all-important regional regatta in Oklahoma City on Mother’s Day weekend, and qualified six crews for the Youth National Championship Regatta in Sarasota, Florida next month.
Regional qualifier in Oklahoma City another success for Parati
The qualifying crews are:
Sofia Glaser, bronze medal in the Women’s single
Peyton Blackwell-Frank and Emma Lawrence, silver medal in the Women’s pair
Emma Lawrence, Peyton Blackwell-Frank, Paige Blackwell-Frank, and Sofia Glaser, silver medal in the Women’s straight four
Jaden Blackwell-Frank, Jordan Blackwell-Frank, Abby Yacoub, and Katie Havens, silver medal in the Women’s U16 coxed quad
Maria Bustamonte, Jordan Blackwell-Frank, Jaden Blackwell-Frank, and Abby Yacoub, gold in the Women’s U17 quad
Santi Gomez, Carson Jones, Luc Gregoire, and Will Lawrence, bronze in the Men’s straight four
Although qualifying for Nationals appears to be a rite of passage for Parati athletes, most years Parati qualifies more crews for the Youth National Championship Regatta than any other club in the State of Texas and USRowing’s Central Region, there is nothing perfunctory about it. Parati athletes work hard training six days a week with their volunteer coach Michael Rosman. Rosman uses lessons in training and competitions to teach life lessons that stick with these crews long after their rowing careers end. Lessons like advocating for yourself, being true to your word, and respecting and supporting your teammates. These lessons go hand in hand with Parati’s motto, “Paratus Enim Vitae”, “Prepared for Life.” If you think you have what it takes to be a Parati athlete, check us out www.ParatiRowingTheWoodlands.org, or 832-510-6288.
