MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On 5/11/2022, patrol deputies from Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden’s Office focused on the unauthorized use of temporary license plates (paper plates). Thousands and thousands of paper plates are on the road today, causing many issues for law enforcement, including being able to properly identify suspect vehicles after a crime has been committed, not to mention the amount of funds being lost to the state that go towards maintaining the state’s transportation system.

During the full day of enforcement, both day shift and night shift deputies focused on unauthorized “paper plates”. Statistics from the enforcement are as follows:

Number of Traffic Stops: 90
Number of Citations Issues: 44
Number of Warnings: 53
Number of Vehicles Towed: 17
Number of Arrests: 16

The arrests include felony possession of a controlled substance, felony unauthorized use of motor vehicles, both misdemeanor and felony warrant arrests, felony manufacturer/deliver of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated offenses.

Constable Hayden quoted: “These paper plates are a very big problem in our area and all across Texas, we will continue to pursue those that fraudulently place paper plates on vehicles, especially those that are committing crime in and around our area.”
