THE WOODLANDS, TX – You know we’re rapidly approaching summer because high school graduations are starting up this week. In ten days, students will be prepping for their final day of classes before the summer break (or real world, depending on whether or not they’re seniors).

Hot temps, mostly sunny skies, and strong winds make for outdoor playtime fun

Another surefire sign of summer for our locals is the steadily increasing temperatures. We’re for the most part firmly entrenched in the 90s for our highs this week. However, some gusty winds will ease the pain and also make for some awesome kite-flying weather.

It’s going to be sunny all day with temps hitting 94 this afternoon (but the humidity making it feel like 98, whew!). The winds will be relatively low, between 4-7 mph, but blowing in from the southern reaches to bring the wet air through. After last night’s gorgeous blood moon / lunar eclipse, tonight will be pretty uneventful (and a lot less red) with a low temperature settling down around 71.

Tuesday morning the winds will slightly kick up – getting to around 10 mph in the afternoon – with some early morning clouds that will go away until around sunset. Temps will be about a degree warmer than today’s – a high of 95 and a low of 72.

The clouds will stick around all Tuesday night, finally dissipating near Wednesday lunchtime. Add another degree to the temperatures, so that our high will be 96 and our low 73. In the afternoon, winds will kick back up again to give us a little relief from the heat.

Some Thursday winds and mild cloud cover will bring the high temp down to 94, with a complement of winds reaching up to near 15 mph. There’s not a hint of rain or lightning in the forecast, so grab those kites and fly with reckless abandon without fear of getting zapped.

Friday will introduce the weekend with pretty much the same; mostly sunny skies with a high back up to 96 that’ll feel like 101 with the humidity, but brisk winds around 15 mph coming out of the SSE for some cooling caresses on our faces.

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
