THE WOODLANDS, TX – With summer vacation right around the corner, Woodlands Online is keenly aware of parents wondering what they can do to keep their kids active during the break. We’re excited to announce our annual Student Intern Program, where we take growing minds and talents and hone them in a relaxed-but-active work environment. We have four main departments seeking to take on some interns – Editorial, Sports, Photography and Video.

Several slots are open for students this summer!

Editorial interns will learn workable journalism skills and be given assignments – and the freedom to propose their own assignments – to research, interview, and write feature articles for full byline and credit on our site and social media. All topics relevant to The Woodlands area – including politics, community, events, human interest, op-ed, reviews, or investigative reporting. Sports interns will accompany the sports director to sporting events to do live reporting, interviewing, recapping, and photography. Photography interns will be taught workable photography skills and sent to events to take photographs for full photo credit. Video interns will answer to the videography director and be taught how to operate and produce videos in studio and on-location environments, as well as livestream events and producing highlight reels.

Education and youth activity are key factors in our mission, and we believe that the best preparation for a student to embrace the challenges of the real world is hands-on experience. If you have or know of any students who have an interest in or a talent for photography, videography, writing, or reporting, we would love to consider them for our intern program. With us, for just a few hours a week, they can gain valuable experience and earn credits in return for helping us grow.

Interested students should send an email to submissions@woodlandsonline.com and be prepared to fill out a short application form and have their parent or legal guardian sign it.
