SPRING, TX -- To help expedite the Birnham Woods Drive widening project, contractor Main Lane Industries will close Birnham Woods Drive to through traffic between Lexington Boulevard and Waterbend Cove starting Monday, June 6. This section is scheduled to reopen by the end June.

Starting in July, Birnham Woods Drive will be closed to through traffic between Lexington Boulevard and Trophy Ridge. This section is scheduled to reopen before the first of August in order to ensure that school traffic is not disrupted.
Detour signs will be placed to reroute drivers unfamiliar with the area.

In addition to expediting the widening project, the closures will provide safer working conditions for the contractor and driving routes for motorists.

The project was awarded in mid-January to Main Lane Industries in the amount of $2,989,756.42. The project is contracted for 420 calendar days and started March 1.

Scope: The project will widen Birnham Woods Drive from a two-lane asphalt road to a four-lane asphalt road with roadside ditches between Waterbend Cove and Trophy Ridge. It also will widen Birnham Woods Drive from a two-lane concrete road to a four-lane concrete road with curb and gutter and underground drainage from Trophy Ridge to Rayford Road.

Once completed, there will be two lanes plus a left-turn lane in each direction on Birnham Woods Drive at the intersections with Waterbend Cove and Lexington Boulevard.
