THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way!” – Dr. Seuss

School starts back up for many families this week; whether you’re trying to juggle the change in your schedule or are searching for family fun to help ease into the school year, we have the top events you want to check out this week.

ALL WEEK LONG, August 8-14
The Woodlands Children’s Museum
knows that just because the kiddos are back in school it doesn’t mean the extracurricular learning doesn’t stop. All week long, it is holding registration for several classes and camps, including the Fall and Winter Wonderseum. You can register for two- or three-day classes. Every class includes hands-on experiences with activities involving parachute play, bean bags, scarves, rhythm instruments, or puppets. From acting out classic musical pieces such as “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens to drawing/scribbling their feelings when listening to different styles of music, children are able to immerse themselves in a celebration of music! Each day ends with a circle time reading that allows time for each student to ask questions and express their thoughts and feelings of the story.

For something truly out of the ordinary, visit the Glade Arts Foundation for Escape Velocity: An Evening of Dance, Design, and AI. NobleMotion Dance has partnered with industrial artist Jared Doster, A.I. projection designer Jeremy Stewart, and photographer Lynn Lane to create a one-hour journey that transports the audience throughout the gallery. Doster’s climbable sculptures allow the dancers to vault, swing, and flip. It’s a physically exciting show; think dance meets parkour with a dash of cirque. The experience is family-friendly and welcomes audiences of all ages.
