THE WOODLANDS, TX – It feels like each week we promise rain in the forecast, and practically each time we’re denied the blissful spatter of drops on our faces. Last week we got enough of a respite from the dryness to turn our lawns a little bit greener, but it’s still dry enough for burn bans to be in effect. However, this might – just might – be the week where we can kiss off the sun for a bit.

It’ll start off hot and dry this week, but the storm clouds are mustering

Today the temps and winds will steadily climb, and some clouds will tag along, but we’ll still get to a high of 99 (with a heat index of 105). Clouds will partly block out the sun today and the moon tonight, keeping our low in the middle 70s.

Tuesday morning will dawn with at least half the sky hidden by clouds. The partly cloudy skies will remain and it’ll be even hotter, with a raw high temperature of 101 and a heat index of 106. In the afternoon, the increasing winds will blow away some of the clouds.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, the clouds will creep back in as the pressure rises. Another day of humidity close to 100 percent will make it even hotter, with a high of 102. In the afternoon, cloud coverage and pressure will drop at the same time, keeping the overnight temps in the upper 70s.

On Thursday, things will take a darker turn. Though the day will start off like the ones preceding it, a line of thunderstorms will come rolling in after lunchtime. This will bring immediate relief from the high temperature, which will reach a heat index of 107. The storms will remain overnight and keep up a scattered pattern throughout Friday. Good news is, this will keep temps much lower, with a high of ‘only’ 91.

Heads up: the clouds and rain will most likely stick around all through next week…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
