THE WOODLANDS, TX – As of this writing, Dallas is getting pummeled by rains that are reaching up to 10 inches in some areas. While we here in The Woodlands are nowhere near that danger level yet, this week still promises a lot of precipitation, with possibly even more as we stretch into September.

A week of wetness might presage more to come

This morning’s overcast skies will open up later this afternoon, making our lunchtime high of 91 (with a humidity factor that will make it feel like 102) plummet as the storms hit. From this point on, you can kiss off catching some rays or moonbeams; the cloud coverage will be practically complete.

The storms will continue unabated overnight with storms lasting at least until dinnertime; one positive is that the high will only reach 86. The evening lull will be temporary, as the rains and thunder will kick back in overnight.

Wednesday morning we’ll see a spike in the storms, then the rain and clouds will abate somewhat, although every area in The Woodlands will have at least a 20 percent chance of rain. The high will flirt with breaking 90 degrees, with the lows maintaining a weekly average in the mid 70s.

Thursday, the intensity of the storms will come down, and we’ll go from ‘all day’ to ‘scattered.’ The high will indeed break the 90 mark today (with a heat index of 97), but the skies should clear up significantly. Overnight into Friday will be relatively calm, and you should be able to count at least a few stars.

Friday – fingers crossed – will give us a brief respite from the rain, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 91 to dry things out a bit. But as the weekend approaches, we just might have to keep an eye out on animals in pairs walking down the street…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
