Spring Creek DAR Highlights Constitution Week!

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR highlights Constitution Week in The Woodlands. The chapter received a Constitution Week proclamation from the Woodlands Township proclaiming September 17-23 Constitution Week in The Woodlands. This was presented by Township chairman, Gordy Bunch. The chapter sponsored displays at the Montgomery County Library South branch and Mitchell branches. Displays were also sponsored at Lone Star College, Glen Loch Elementary, Village Books and Buy the Book. Spring Creek provided certificates of recognition for members of the Woodlands Trails Community Girl Scouts who memorized the Preamble to the Constitution. In 1955, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress with a resolution to set aside September 17-23 dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The annual celebration was established when signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on August 2, 1956.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War. Today’s DAR is dynamic and diverse, with over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad. DAR members annually provide millions of hours of volunteer service to their local communities across the country and world. DAR chapters participate in projects to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Over one million members have joined the organization since its founding in 1890.
