THE WOODLANDS, TX – Tuesday, October 11 is the last day you can register to vote for the upcoming elections, which include the midterm elections as well as multiple local, municipal, countywide, and statewide elections.

If you wait past Oct 11, you’ll have to sit out this election

To register in Texas you must be a citizen of the United States, be a resident of the county in which the application for registration is made, be at least 17 years and 10 months old (you must be 18 to vote), not be finally convicted of a felony (or, if a convicted felon, you must have fully discharged your punishment, including any incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation or be pardoned), and have not been declared mentally incompetent by final judgment of a court of law.

Texas does not allow for online registration; there are sites where you can fill out the form online, but in each instance you must print it out and mail it in, ensuring that the envelope is postmarked on or by October 11.

The Texas Secretary of State has a website with easy access to all kinds of answers pertaining to questions of voter registration at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqvr.shtml. On here, you can determine if you are already registered to vote, or to discover if someone else illicitly registered to vote in your name, as well as registration forms in different languages. You can also download mailable forms more locally at https://elections.mctx.org/vapp.asp. In case of deadline, you can also fax your registration application, but it must be followed up by a mailed copy within four days of the fax to be allowed. Additionally, you can hand-deliver your registration to the office of the Elections Administrator, 9159 Airport Road, Conroe, TX 77303.

Woodlands Online encourages everyone eligible to register to vote to do so. Also, be sure to tune in to Woodlands Online’s website or Facebook page on Wednesday, October 12 for the All Candidate Debate & Forum presented in partnership with The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce and Business Advocacy Council.
