MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The Law Enforcement Support Organization (LESO) Program, as authorized through the National Defense Authorization Act, sanctions the Secretary of Defense to transfer excess Department of Defense (DoD) personal property to Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) with special emphasis given to counter-terrorism. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has chosen to continue participation in this valuable program and will remain one of over 13,000 local LEAs who have taken advantage of this opportunity to enhance public safety.
Property authorized under this program may include but is not limited to: Weapons and weapon parts (including pistols, shotguns and long rifles), Training Weapons, Optics, High Profile and/or Armored Vehicles (Cargo Trucks, MRaps, and Humvees), Aircraft, Tools, Riot Gear, Radio Equipment and other law enforcement related items. These tools are used to aid local law enforcement agencies in counter-terrorism activities and supplement local Law Enforcement Agencies’ equipment needs.

The Chief Law Enforcement Official is responsible for all LESO Program controlled property. LEAs must have 100% accountability for all assigned property at all times.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to continue this partnership and views this as a force multiplier for our deputies in the field. MCSO continues to strive to make Montgomery County a safe place to live, work, and play.
