Memorial Hermann Honors EMS for Heroic Efforts During Beryl
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On October 14, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center hosted an appreciation breakfast for Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) EMS paramedics and EMTs to celebrate and show heartfelt appreciation for their incredible bravery, dedication and compassion demonstrated locally during Hurricane Beryl response. This team of professionals does amazing work daily, but during times of additional challenges, we wanted to thank them for showing up, taking swift, selfless actions to save lives and for providing hope and care to our many community members at a time of need.
Eight team members were selected by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands to receive its Guiding Star of Life Award with absolute gratitude for their tenacity and dedication during Hurricane Beryl. Honorees: Jacob Deisch and Ashley Dillard who responded to a patient who had a tree fall onto their chest; Jacqueline Kane and Katherine Hinchley who treated a patient with anaphylactic allergic reaction to ant bites while cleaning up yard debris; James Briggs and Courtney Griffin who responded to an elderly resident at an assisted living facility who suffered from a head injury while walking in the dark during the power outage; and Wesley Hall with Alexander MacTavish (not pictured) who triaged and transported a patient to the Texas Medical Center who experienced 2nd degree burns over 30-40% of their body while burning storm debris.
These EMS providers are an example of true pillars of strength in our community, and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands (MHTW) is incredibly proud to stand with you in service.
