The John Cooper School Announces Participation in Prestigious Tommy Tune Awards
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The John Cooper School is proud to announce its inclusion in the esteemed Tommy Tune Awards (TTA), which celebrates the educational value, artistry, and community of high school musical theatre in the Greater Houston Area. This recognition highlights the dedication and talent of our students, faculty, and the broader community.
The Tommy Tune Award honors outstanding achievements in high school musical productions, showcasing the vital role that the arts play in education.
The TTA program emphasizes three core goals:
Education: Participation in the arts cultivates confidence, sparks creative thinking, and inspires a lifelong love of learning. Every role in the creative process, from actors to crew members, provides invaluable experiences that shape well-rounded individuals.
Artistry: The arts are a haven for exploration, reflection, and innovation. The Tommy Tune Award provides a platform for students and educators to share their creative accomplishments, celebrating their journeys as individuals, collaborators, and members of the Greater Houston community.
Community: The power of learning, collaborating, and growing together is central to the TTA mission. By celebrating shared experiences in this transformative art form, we enhance the future of our students, art, and city, fostering a vibrant artistic and educational community.
"We are incredibly proud of our students and the entire production team," said Jon Schroeder, Director of Performing Arts. "Being recognized by the Tommy Tune Awards not only highlights the exceptional talent within our school but also underscores the importance of arts education in shaping the whole child."
The selection process involves rigorous evaluation by a panel of industry professionals who assess various aspects of the production, including acting, singing, choreography, and overall production quality. The awards ceremony will take place in early June, where students from participating schools can showcase their talents.
Ashley Cooper, the Performing Arts Department Chair, expressed her excitement about the recognition: "Our involvement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. We are grateful for the support of our school community."
