HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College System offers accelerated “mini-mesters” throughout the academic year for students wanting to fast-track the process of earning the credits that will help them get where they want to be. Three- and four-week mini-mesters are available this winter, Dec. 15 through Jan. 11.

“Mini-mesters are a great opportunity for students to tackle a class or two in between the fall and spring semesters, placing them one step closer to completing a certification, degree or transfer opportunity,” said Christina Hagerty, Ed.D., LSCS interim chief academic officer. “These courses cover the same material as regular classes in a shorter amount of time, allowing students to progress quickly, catch up on credits or explore new subjects.”

Registration is now open across all LSCS campuses. In-person, online and hybrid courses will be offered in several disciplines, including accounting, art appreciation, biology, business computer applications, chemistry, communications, composition and rhetoric, criminal justice, economics, environmental science, film appreciation, foreign languages, government, history, mathematics, philosophy, psychology and sociology.

“The curriculum at Lone Star College is designed to keep pace with the rapidly evolving field, ensuring that students are well-prepared to meet the demands of the industry. The knowledge and skills I have acquired here have not only prepared me for a successful career but have also ignited a passion for continuous learning and professional growth,” said Boris Nkeumboh, a LSC-CyFair student.
