“Celebrate the season with the Woodlands Symphony Orchestra at the December 21 concert, Singing with the Symphony.”
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra invites the community to a joyful evening of beloved holiday music and spirited sing-alongs on Saturday, December 21, at The Woodlands First Baptist Church, 11801 Grogan’s Mill Road, The Woodlands, Texas. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the concert begins at 6 p.m.
“Join us for an evening of classical and popular seasonal favorites in the decorated sanctuary of The Woodlands First Baptist Church,” said WSO Artistic Director Darryl Bayer. “With sing-along carols and three selections from Handel’s Messiah, this concert offers a beautiful way to experience the warmth and wonder of the holiday season. The audience can look forward to singing along with timeless holiday favorites and the WSO’s very own Alisa Pederson, our concertmaster, leads the audience with her beautiful alto voice.”
As is WSO tradition, one lucky audience member will be selected to conduct the orchestra in a lively performance of Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” and the orchestra will also present a unique rendition of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” narrated by the Woodlands very own Bill Vandesande. This year’s program includes an added treat: the iconic “Ode to Joy” from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, a triumphant anthem of unity and celebration that perfectly captures the spirit of the season.
“Get ready to sing your favorite holiday tunes with the WSO in a festive, winter-wonderland setting,” Bayer added. “It’s a night packed with big melodies and intimate snuggle songs, — just what we all need to ring the holiday season in style. Warm up your vocal cords and don’t worry, we’ll have all the lyrics on First Baptist’s two jumbo screens.
