North Houston's City Place hosts Water Lantern Festival, wedding showcase, Peach Truck visit and more in June

SPRING, TX -- North Houston’s City Place is sailing into summer with a range of mostly complimentary and family-friendly programming throughout June with activities taking place on and around the central Plaza at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive – Spring, TX 77389.

In a dazzling launch to summer, the popular Water Lantern Festival returns on June 1 from 5:30-9:30 pm. The memorable evening includes food trucks, live music and the opportunity for attendees to design and send off their own LED candle-lit lanterns into picturesque City Place Park’s main pond, where they will float among thousands of others during this magical experience. On June 2 from 1-4 pm, the Houston City Place Marriott will present a Weddings Showcase in partnership with Houston Modern Luxury. Guests will experience a sneak peek into their special day amidst the backdrop of the hotel’s stylish ballrooms and function spaces, where they will discover the latest trends in wedding décor, mingle with an array of vendors and indulge in food and beverage samplings while supplies last. The Peach Truck makes its inaugural City Place visits on June 9 and 30 from 4:30-6:30 pm. Visitors can pre-order the famed, fresh-from-the-orchard peaches for pick up, or purchase a box of peaches on site. To preorder visit www.thepeachtruck.com, enter zip code 77389, select City Place. Twelve pounds boxes are priced at $45 each. The peach-filled fun will kick off on June 8 starting at 8:30 pm with a Pix On The Plaza complimentary screening of film classic James & The Giant Peach. Complimentary popcorn will also be available while supplies last, and blankets plus low-profile chairs are welcome.

A recent addition to the City Place event calendar, the monthly Coffee & Cars: Saturday Motor Club will take place June 15 from 8-10 am. Open to the public and free of charge to participate or enjoy as a guest, the informal gathering of car enthusiasts showcases more than 150 unique and antique automobiles of all types around City Place’s Urban Core. Adjacent Island Grill, Common Bond Bistro & Bakery and SwitcHouse Plates & Pours are the perfect pitstops for food and snacks before, during and after the event.

Central Bark will be onsite every Saturday between June 22 and July 27 from 9-10 am for a six-part series of classes that teach hands-on training and management skills for owners and their dogs. Participants will have the opportunity to work on developing strong foundations for recall, loose-leash walking, stationary behaviors and relaxation around distractions. The classes are open to dogs of all ages with proof of vaccinations. As a welcome to City Place, the six-pack bundle has been discounted by 20% to $144. Reoccurring Programming

Precision Xecution Fitness brings complimentary strength and conditioning classes to The Plaza every Saturday – June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 – with two 45-minute sessions starting at 8 and 8:45 am. Participants can join a vibrant community of individuals committed to achieving their fitness goals together with expert trainers, energizing music and a supportive atmosphere.

MSDA: Be Dance returns to The Plaza at a new morning time for the summer with complimentary children’s sessions that teach the fundamentals of dance through movement and balance. Classes are offered every Wednesday – June 5, 12, 19 and 26 – from 10-10:30 am for children ages 2-5 years and 10:30-11 am for ages 6-10.

Complimentary Yoga on the Plaza is scheduled every Saturday – June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 – at 10 am. The one-hour experience includes a mediation element and is the perfect way to jump start the weekend with the picturesque City Place Park waterfront as its backdrop.

Soccer Shots kicks off its summer camp of nine sessions on The Plaza every Wednesday – June 5, 12, 19 and 26– with paid workshops that build on sport skills and character development. Classes for ages 2-3 years take place from 5–5:30 pm, followed by ages 3-5 years from 5:40–6:15 pm. Registration is required at https://woodlands.soccershots.com/search?txt=City%20Place.

Must-see, free pop up art installation Periwinkle from Dallas-based creators The Color Condition is in its final month at City Place. The expansive piece, spanning from The Plaza across City Place Park’s main bridge, blends vibrant colors, patterns and movement to create fantastical realms reminiscent of Candyland, Peter Pan, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Guests are encouraged to share their visits by following @CityPlaceNow on Instagram and tagging #MyPeriwinklePic for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a City Place restaurant.
