THE WOODLANDS, TX – Due to recent storm events and excessive rainfall amounts, various areas of The Woodlands and surrounding regions have sustained damage. These storms have caused flooding and resulted in irregular water currents, floating debris and vegetation and high water levels in Lake Woodlands. These conditions are not conducive for the Open Water Swim event scheduled for this Saturday. Therefore, the Open Water Swim and “in water” events scheduled to take place Saturday, May 4 at Northshore Park have been cancelled. Participant safety is always the top priority, and the decision to cancel the portion of this event is consistent with this principle.

The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department will be issuing refunds for the Open Water Swim. These refunds will be automatically processed and credited to the form of payment used during the time of registration.

The below events will still be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at The Woodlands Township Townhall (2801 Technology Forest Boulevard) as follows:

  • The Woodlands Triathlon Packet Pickup – 8 to 10 a.m.
  • First Timer’s Clinic with Sandra Sutherland – 8 a.m.
  • Participants signed up for the First Timer’s Clinic will be receiving a credit of $15 to the original form of payment used at the time of registration.
  • Pre-Race Meetings with Finish Strong Coaching – 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
  • Flat Tire Clinics with Bikeland – 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Participants will need to utilize the Board Chambers entrance to the building.

The Woodlands Triathlon Race Management will continue to monitor the condition of Lake Woodlands daily, and will determine the ability to conduct the swim portion of the triathlon before Race Day.
