THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Exxon Mobil has officially announced that land being developed south of The Woodlands will house its consolidated offices.

In recent weeks large cranes could be seen looming over the pines on the 385-acre tract of land west of Interstate 45. The offices will include "multiple low-rise office buildings, a laboratory, conference and training centers and facilities such as child care, a wellness center and other employee amenities" according to a statement released by Exxon Mobil today.

“This new campus provides an opportunity to consolidate many of our Houston offices in one location, which will provide a high-quality working environment as our employees continue to support Exxon Mobil’s mission of delivering energy to meet growing global needs,” said Bryan Milton, president of Exxon Mobil Global Services Company.

“The complex will be constructed to high standards of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship, and will promote new opportunities for employee collaboration in their daily work.”

Exxon Mobil employees in Houston currently work out of several offices, including ones downtown, in Greenspoint, on the Katy Freeway and Buffalo Speedway. Employees in upstream, chemicals and other staff support roles WILL move out in phases as the new buildings are constructed, beginning early 2014 and ending by 2015.

It was still unclear Tuesday afternoon whether speculation that the Springwoods Village subdivision also being constructed on 2,000 acres in the vicinity would be Exxon Mobil's. A spokesperson for the master plan community said inquiries about Springwoods Village would be addressed by Exxon Mobil.

Calls to Exxon Mobil about the community were not returned Tuesday afternoon.
