The Woodlands Fourth of July Parade Info

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- CISD Superintendant Dr. John Stockton has been announced as the Grand Marshall of the 2009 Fourth of July Parade in The Woodlands. The parade will begin at approximately 9 a.m. at the corner of Woodlands Parkway and Grogan's Mill Road and will head down Lake Robbins Drive through Market Street and back to Lake Woodlands Dr. to finish at the corner of Grogan's Mill Rd. and Lake Woodlands Dr. The first elements of the parade will arrive at Market Street around 9:20 to 9:25 a.m.

The parade will include the marching bands of The Woodlands High School and The Woodlands College Park High School. Dignitaries scheduled to appear include:

- Congressman Kevin Brady
- Senator Tommy Williams
- State Representative Rob Eissler
- Edie Connelly, Justice of the Peace
- Judge Mary Ann Turner, County Court at Law 4
- Craig Doyal, County Commissioner Precinct 2
- Mayor Garry Watts , City of Shenandoah
- Councilmember Ken Smith
- Council member Leah Gray, Oak Ridge
- Don Norrell, President The Woodlands Township
- John Powers, Co-Interim General Manager The Community Association
- Jeff Long, President WCA
- Dymond Hayes, Miss Teen Texas International
- Bonnie Hubert, Mrs. Texas International

Nick Wolda and Ramon Torres will serve as announcers at the parade and provide a brief description of each float as it passes the judging stand, located just above the North Passage in Market Street. There are ten award categories and the winners will be announced later that evening at 7:05 p.m. on the main stage at the Red, Hot & Blue Festival. This year's parade theme is "Traveling the USA." All winners will be notified by telephone following the parade, which is scheduled to conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are still neededed to help with the parade. A volunteer orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, at 7 p.m. in the parking lot of The Woodlands United Methodist Church, located at Lake Woodlands Drive & Grogan's Mill Road.
