The Woodlands Crawfish Festival Announced

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Crawfish Festival is scheduled to take place on March 27, 2010 at Town Green Park in The Woodlands.

The event is a new community partnership between the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s local fundraiser, Cure PH, and The Chamber’s Young Professionals Network (YPN). The two committees are bringing together their previous crawfish boil events for The Woodlands Crawfish Festival.

"We are very excited about partnering with the Chamber’s Young Professionals," said Jack Stibbs, chair of the Cure PH Committee. "The Woodlands is long overdue in having a community-wide crawfish boil and The Chamber is the right partner to assist with community involvement."

Event attendees will enjoy crawfish, fried alligator, jambalaya, desserts and a variety of refreshments while listening to the sounds of a live zydeco band. A designated children’s area will feature a variety of activities including a giant bouncing moonwalk, snow cones and popcorn.

“We are happy to be working with the Cure PH committee to help put on this event,” said Dave Baker, team leader for YPN. “Our ‘under 40’ young professionals group is always looking for ways to help our community by supporting worthy charities and by supporting fun activities.”

About The Young Professionals Network
The Young Professionals Network is a team of the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce. The Young Professionals host a networking event once a month and also participates in community events and fundraisers. They have raised backpacks for Interfaith, rowed in the YMCA Dragon Boat races, judged children’s essays for the Red, Hot & Blue Festival, held a donation drive for the Humane Society and helped with the Spring Assistance Ministries Turkey Drive.

PH is an emerging disease and progressive disorder that can severely compromise the function of the heart and lungs. The disorder causes high blood pressure on the right side of the heart and lungs. It most frequently strikes women in their 20s and 30s and if misdiagnosed or left untreated, the disease can be fatal.
