The College Park Varsity Cavaliers dished out more hustle than the Lufkin Panthers could handle Friday night. The Cavaliers hosted the Panthers in their first meeting in continuation of district play.

The first quarter of the game was low scoring, and unfortunately for the Panthers, the last time they would ever see the score come close to matching the Cavaliers'.

Cavalier Evan Cooper started the second quarter with a beautiful 3-point shot, a shot that would start the 20-point quarter for the Cavs. Lufkin got into foul trouble just before the end of half, allowing the Cavaliers to put more points on the board from the line. The Cavs coasted to a 15-point lead going into halftime.

Lufkin's determination to get scoring never dwindled, but their inability to sink baskets got the best of the team. Frustration led to unsportsmanlike fouls, one which left Cavs player Mitchell Mactier on the floor with the medical staff. It was several minutes of the crowd holding their breath before Mactier was able to stand and walk off the court with the assistance of the medical staff.

Overall, the Cavs played with great fervor and handled the ball well. Cooper scored 15 points, Adam Rowe scored 16 points, and James Allen was the game's high scorer with 18 points. The Cavs hustle and passion showed on the court throughout all four quarters and helped lead them to the win.

The final score of the game was 63-46 and the Cavs were able to put away a district win at home.
