Women of Distinction Luncheon and Forum
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Montgomery County Women's Council of Organizations is pleased to present this year's Women of Distinction luncheon, "Humor Therapy for the 21st Century Volunteer". The event will be held Friday, April 30, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a silent auction followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Humorist and Motivational Speaker, Marion Peitz will be the featured guest and is renown for her "laugh out loud" programs.
MCWCO serves nonprofit organizations by providing a forum for agencies to come together to update each other on services and resources. Each year, MCWCO hosts the Women of Distinction luncheon to honor each agency's prized volunteer for the numerous hours, unyielding commitment and loyal dedication that volunteer has provided their agency.
"Nonprofit agencies in our county provide services, goods and resources that so many need especially in today's economy," Penny Bradshaw said, Board President for MCWCO. "And there isn't a single nonprofit that can create significant change without the dedication of their many volunteers. We are proud to provide an opportunity for these agencies to honor their special volunteer in a very dynamic way."
Though volunteers rarely ask for praise, every nonprofit agency in the county depends greatly on the service and commitment of their volunteers.
"The Women's Center has participated in this event every year staffing the registration table for the actual luncheon and by also nominating one of our volunteers," Donna Wick said, director of outreach and communications for the Montgomery County Women's Center. "Every nonprofit agency should be a member of MCWCO to update and share their information on a consistent basis and to garner support for one another. As a United Way agency, we partner with other agencies because no one United Way agency duplicates the services of another. So it behooves our agency to know what other agencies are doing so we can best serve our clients. No single agency can solve a client's problem. We all have to work together and MCWCO provides the perfect forum to do so."
MCWCO holds meetings in The Woodlands on a consistent basis to share information and to learn more about core services and resources provided by other agencies.
"Though times are challenging right now and nonprofits are working harder than they ever have, we hope that the many agencies that serve our county will come out and laugh a little with Marion Peitz," Bradshaw said. "We also hope they will nominate one of their own volunteers to be honored."
