St. Luke's to host Summer Safety Fun Day
June 5th from 10 am - 2 pm at Woodlands Crossing Shopping Center
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- A fun summer is a safe summer. In the spirit of encouraging kids and adults to enjoy a healthy and injury-free summertime, St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital encourages the community to attend a "Summer Safety Fun Day" on Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Woodlands Crossing Shopping Center, located at the southeast corner of Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl.
St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital and St. Luke's Community Emergency Center are hosting this family-oriented event in conjunction with several local community organizations, healthcare providers and businesses that will present information demonstrations, and giveaways, and provide entertainment and refreshments.
Free and open to the public, guests will enjoy:
· Up to 300 free bicycle helmets for all ages will be handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis and have their mascot "Street Smart" at the event by "Think First" - the National Injury Prevention Foundation.
· Firearms safety information and free gun lock boxes by the Montgomery County Constables Department.
· A fire truck display and tour by The Woodlands Fire Department.
· A bike rodeo safety cone course for kids to practice maneuvers presented by The Woodlands Cycling Club.
· An interactive kids area by Texas Children's Hospital with an appearance by "Katie" The Kangaroo.
· A "Spot The Tot" vehicle safety program presented by The City of Shenandoah.
· Prevention of spinal cord injuries information by Dr. Mark Yezak of the Houston Spine & Rehabilitation Center.
· Free blood pressure screenings and stroke awareness education by nursing students.
· Car seat inspections and an ambulance tour by the Montgomery County Hospital District.
· Sizzlin‚ Summer Fun information presented by The Woodlands Parks & Recreation Department.
· Learning Express promotions.
· Representatives from PHI Air Medical
· Representatives from Texas Children's Health Center The Woodlands
· Representatives from and St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital Pediatric Services.
