The St. Louis Rams traded for Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Mark Clayton. The trade was completed on Monday for the veteran receiver, who was a No. 22 overall pick of the Ravens in 2005.

Clayton is expected to move into a starting role at wide receiver, bumping Danny Amendola, former All-State player on The Woodlands High School football team, to second-team status.

However, Amendola is still expected to see playing time in the Rams' three-receiver rotation. Amendola caught eight passes in preseason play for 98 yards. That was second-best on the team behind tight end Michael Hoomanawanui's nine catches for 139 yards.

The 5-10, 190-pound Clayton, had a career-year in 2006 with 939 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 67 pass receptions. But his production has declined every year since and he suffered a concussion on Aug. 28 in a preseason game with the New York Giants.

Clayton became expendable when the Ravens acquired wide receivers Anquan Boldin in the offseason and T.J. Houshmandzadeh last week.
