THE WOODLANDS, Texas – In honor of President’s Day, The Woodlands LearningRx challenged students to make a video proving they really know the former heads of the nation.

The local brain-training center held their contest in conjunction with its headquarters in Colorado.

Kim Bellini, owner and director of The Woodlands LearningRx, explained the contest rules. The students had to make a video of themselves reciting the presidents in the proper order and submit the project by January 21.

There was also a catch. The videos had to demonstrate cognitive skills involving “divided, selected and sustained attention.” In other words, the students had to recite the presidents while doing another activity.

“Our kids all learn the presidents first thing at the center. This tests if they really know them,” Bellini said. “The purpose is to show that the students can multi-task.”

Plus, the videos had to be visually interesting, and the students had to be accurate.

“They could be funny, silly, impressive, interesting, cute or compelling,” Kim Bellini said.

In the local contest, McKinley Phillips won first place and Brooke Groenemann won second. Andrew Garrick won third and triplets Zander, Addison, and Kaden Smith took home fourth place.

McKinley Phillips was also a finalist at the national competition.

“It was a fun way to celebrate President’s Day and a great way to show off our kids,” Bellini said.
