The Woodlands High School baseball team returned to form this week completing a sweep of its best-of-three bi-district playoff series with Tomball on Friday.

The Highlanders (26-5-2) piled up 14 hits in recording a 10-1 win at Tomball to complete the sweep after an 8-0 win in the opener Thursday.

The Highlanders scored five times in the first inning and capped the win with a two-run seventh inning.

The Woodlands advances to the area round of the playoffs next week to face the winner of the Austin Anderson vs. Leander bi-district playoff series.

Landon Merka collected three hits Friday, including a homer and a double. He drove in three runs and scored two more. Lance Miles (2 R), Elliot Richoux (R, RBI), and Charlie Warren (2 R, RBI) added two hits apiece in the 14-hit attack.

All nine players in the Highlanders lineup reached safely. Andrew Godail and Alex Dunlap each scored a run and drove in another. Robbie Goldschmidt scored a run and Garrett Hope drove in another. Ryan Flynn also added to the hit parade.

Godail went the distance to earn the win on the mound. He struck out eight and allowed just three hits.
