Miller Outdoor Theatre hosting Bollywood Blast 2011
HOUSTON -- Once Upon a Time in a place not so far away a new musical began its journey at Houston’s Miller Outdoor Theatre. Indian Performing Arts - Samskriti announces Bollywood Blast 2011 – Once Upon a Time, will play an exclusive engagement at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 8 p.m. Last year’s show- Bollywood Blast 2010 – Life is a Movie brought one of the largest crowds in Miller Theatre history.
Once Upon a Time is an entirely new musical based on such fairytales as Little Red Riding Hood, Weeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Geek with a Bollywood style. The characters and plot from the musical (created by Mahesh Mahbubani), will come to life before your eyes in this dazzling, musical stage spectacular.
The Houston audiences are well known for their enthusiastic support of new work and their discerning taste- as they have shown by the attendance at the last 5 Bollywood Blasts. This, in addition to the experience and expertise of the team, provides a fantastic environment for the creation of this new show – Once Upon a Time. Dr. Rathna Kumar is the artistic director of Samskriti and the producer of Bollywood Blast. The musical is directed and choreographed by Mahesh Mahbubani for the 4th consecutive year.
The 2-hour musical will preserve the humor and heart of a fairytale and will explore the true meaning of love. The musical is a mega entertainer with over 75 dazzling dancers that include all emotions of human life in larger than life renditions of dramatic song and dance scenes. Dr Subodh Bhuchar returns this year as the father with Samyukta Hari playing his daughter. Without a doubt this will be a major event at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
Bollywood Blast 2011 is Sunday, September 4, 2010 at 8 p.m. – admission and parking is free. Tickets at no charge (for covered seating) can be picked up from Miller Box Office.
