Baseball roundup: The Woodlands' Burnett fires no-hitter at Clear Lake

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Ryan Burnett struck out 15 Tuesday in throwing a complete-game no-hitter at Clear Lake as The Woodlands High School baseball team rolled to a 9-1 win at Scotland Yard.

The lefty was around the plate all night long in his 93-pitch performance, throwing 65 for strikes. He got all the offense he would need in the first inning. The Highlanders rallied with two outs to score four times. Hillin Warren delivered a two-run triple.

Chris Andritsos homered and drove in two runs while Luke Sherley added two hits, a pair of RBIs and two stolen bases.

The Highlanders (5-0) will play in the Brenham-Montgomery Tournament Thursday through Saturday. They open with District 14-5A foe Bryan at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and face Kempner later that afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The Woodlands plays twice again Friday against Texas City (2:30 p.m.) and Montgomery (5 p.m.). All those games will be played at Montgomery High School.

The College Park Cavaliers (6-2) rallied on Monday in Brenham for a 15-14 win over Belton. David Ellingson collected four hits and four RBIs.

The Cavaliers watched an 8-1 lead slip away but rallied for three runs in the seventh to win it.

Robby Henderson delivered three hits and drove in three runs while Noah Vaughan added three hits and Dakota Parsons smacked a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.

As a team, the Cavaliers banged out 17 hits.

College Park will host a bracket of the 11th Annual Ferrell Classic, which runs Thursday through Saturday at The Diamonds at College Park. The Cavaliers face Atascocita at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, in what is also the team’s 2013 home opener.

College Park plays twice on Friday, facing Cy-Woods at 4 p.m. and Cy-Fair at 6:30 p.m. The Cavaliers play twice on Saturday as well in games with Tomball (11 a.m.) and Cinco Ranch (4 p.m.).

The Oak Ridge War Eagles (4-2) won a 6-3 decision at Pearland Dawson on Monday. Braden Letney tripled, doubled, and drove in two runs while Tony Cianciull added two hits. Riley McKnight also drove in a run.

The War Eagles play in the Klein ISD Tournament, Thursday through Saturday. They face Mayde Creek (3 p.m.) and Klein Collins (6 p.m.) on Thursday before taking on Klein (11 a.m.) and Klein Forest (3 p.m.) on Friday.

Oak Ridge closes out the tournament with a 1 p.m. Saturday game against Klein Oak.
