Baseball roundup: The Woodlands back in win column

The Woodlands High School baseball team returned to the "win" column on Thursday. Three Highlanders hit homers and Ryan Burnett fired a two-hitter, striking out 14, in a 7-0 win at Lufkin.

Chris Andritsos belted his 12th homer of the season and both Alex Dunlap and Kolbi Brown hit homers as the Highlanders (22-2, 7-0) snapped a two-game skid, suffered at the National High School Invitational in North Carolina - where the team took fourth place.

Blaine Gillespie and Hillin Warren added to the Highlanders' hit total with one apiece while Carter Hope drove in a run.

It was The Woodlands' second consecutive 7-0 win over Lufkin this season.

The Highlanders host A&M Consolidated at 7 p.m. Friday.

Bryan 9, Oak Ridge 0

Bryan pitcher Landon Miner went the distance in shutting out the Oak Ridge War Eagles 9-0 Thursday night at Bryan High School.

Miner gave up just a hit each to Brandon Navarro and Gavin Grissom as the War Eagles (15-9, 4-3) struggled at the plate and in the field committing four errors on the evening.

Tyler Shumpert pitched the first four innings and gave up six runs, none of which were earned off of five hits, three free passes and struck out four Vikings.

Oak Ridge plays at home at 7 p.m. Friday against the College Park Cavaliers as the War Eagles celebrate Teacher Appreciation Night.
