AUSTIN, Texas – Matt Ruhe (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) was named an All-American Southwest Conference selection and was placed on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team after leading Concordia Texas’ men’s track & field program, which competes at the NCAA Division III level, to a second-place finish at the league’s championship meet.

Ruhe, a sophomore physical therapy major, posted a perfect 4.00 GPA during the 2013 spring semester while he was in season as a sprinter on the men's track & field team. He helped Concordia place second with 131 points, which are both program bests, at the 2013 ASC Championships by finishing second in the 100-meter dash, second in the 200 and anchoring the fifth-place 4x100-meter relay squad. A two-time Texas Relays qualifier, Ruhe was named all-conference and ended the spring with a 3.90 cumulative GPA as well as the owner of school records in the 100, 200, 4x100 and sprint medley relay. Furthermore, he made the ASC Fall and Spring Academic Honor Roll and was honorably mentioned for All-ASC laurels as a men's soccer defender.

On the scholastic level, Ruhe was a three-year letterwinner as a sprinter in track & field and a four-year letterwinner as a midfielder in soccer at The Woodlands College Park . He qualified for regionals in the 4x100 every season and in the 200-meter dash as a junior and senior. In soccer, Ruhe served as a captain and was an all-district first team selection as a junior and senior. He also made the all-county first team and was voted team MVP his senior year.
