Young Highlanders Lacrosse spring schedule set
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Lacrosse organization announces the Young Highlanders/Northstar spring lacrosse schedule for beginning and experienced players in 1st through 3rd and 4th through 6th grade.
The Woodlands Lacrosse was founded in 1995 with the goal of eventually introducing and offering the sport to players of all ages. The Young Highlanders/Northstar program attendance has soared since its inception. A history of The Woodlands lacrosse is outlined here.
Young Highlanders are taught the fundamentals of lacrosse with an emphasis on sportsmanship and building character. Experienced players will increase their skill level. The Woodlands High School coaches, players and former players provide the instruction making for a productive and fun environment.
Heading up the coaching staff will be Doug Sarant who described the Young Highlander philosophy.
"We provide young athletes with the tools needed to become their best, to challenge themselves and to ultimately succeed on and off the lacrosse field. We extend to our athletes the importance of teamwork, camaraderie, leadership, dedication, education, honesty, sportsmanship and competition."
The Young Highlanders practice schedule is as follows:
1st through 3rd graders: February 15 to May 3 on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Bear Branch In-Line Hockey Rink.
4th through 6th graders: February 13 to May 1 on Thursday nights 6-8 p.m. at Bear Branch In-line Hockey Rink and Friday nights from 6-8 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
Equipment needed to participate: Lacrosse helmet, Lacrosse shoulder pads, Lacrosse arm pads, Mouth Guard, Lacrosse gloves, cleats, regulation lacrosse stick and athletic cup. US Lacrosse membership required.
Lacrosse equipment can be purchased locally at Academy or Soccer for All in The Woodlands and Southswell Sports in Houston. There are several online stores as well such as Lax World, Lacrosse Monkey, Dick's Sporting Goods and more.
