Cooper extends win streak in Florida

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The John Cooper School baseball team ran its win streak to five games with a pair of wins on Sunday to start its Spring Break tournament at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Fl.

Tournament play continues for the Dragons (10-4-1) on Tuesday and then concludes with two games on Thursday before returning home for a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 game with the West Houston Thunder.

Cooper notched a couple of wins before the current Florida visit. The Dragons turned away Stafford, 11-5, behind a 10-strikeout performance from pitcher Brandon Wohlfarth. Nicholas Beaty and Jake Seefeldt led the offense with two hits each while Neil Cortez and Colton Austin added one each.

The Dragons also defeated Pope John XXIII, 12-2. Seefeldt (4-1) threw a five-inning two-hitter, striking out four, and Beaty threw two scoreless innings of relief. Scott Henry drove in six runs with two hits. Seefeldt and Austin added two hits apiece.

The Dragons opened play in Florida with a 4-1 win over Suffield Academy before belting Bay Ridge High School, 24-2.

Seefeldt picked up the win on the mound in the opener, striking out seven over four innings of work. Clark Hyde finished up.

Beaty collected three hits and four RBIs in the rout of Bay Ridge. Emerson Raybon added two hits and three RBIs while Hyde delivered two hits and two RBIs.
