CONROE, Texas – Luke Sherley led a 14-hit attack with three of his own, including a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, as The Woodlands High School baseball team ran away with a 19-2 triumph on Friday over the hosting Conroe Tigers.

If that weren’t enough, Sherley, the Highlanders’ starting pitcher, threw three innings of perfect baseball, striking out five of the nine batters he faced, to pick up the win on the mound.

Aaron Milone and Mark Doerries finished up for The Woodlands, which improved to 21-3 overall and 7-0 in District 13-5A play while extending its win streak to 13 games.

The Highlanders host A&M Consolidated at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Scotland Yard.

The Woodlands broke open Friday’s game with five runs in each of the second, third and fifth innings after taking a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. For good measure, the Highlanders scored three times in the fourth inning.

Michael McKinstrey turned in a monster night at the plate as well with four singles in as many trips to the plate. Mckinstrey drove in four runs and scored four more.

In all, eight different Highlanders hit safely. Colton Wardle contributed with two hits and two stolen bases. He scored a run and drove in another.

Matt Jennings (3 RBIs), Chris Andritsos (2 runs, 2 RBIs), Evan Samoff (2 RBIs), Doerries (2 RBIs), and Ben Gooch added one hit apiece.
