CONROE, Texas - The Oak Ridge War Eagle baseball team looked to bounce back from a tough loss to The Woodlands Tuesday night when the War Eagles hosted Bryan for Senior night with sole possession of second place on the line.

Oak Ridge drops to 4-3 in district after 0-2 week

In the top of the second inning Willy Amador gets a single and RBI to the left-side as the Vikings take a 3-2 lead.

We move to the bottom of the fifth inning when Riley McKnight shows off his football speed with an infield single. Next batter is Alex Walker and Walker would strike out on the play, however make it to first base on a pass ball by the catcher and McKnight goes to third. Walker is called safe, but then the umpires get together to discuss it and they call Walker out on reversal, so there’s two outs for Oak Ridge. Luken Baker then steps up and skies a pop-fly to second base and that ends the War Eagle threat.

War Eagles would get one last shot to rally in the bottom of the seventh with one out, pinch-hitter Bryce Foley gets hit by the pitch. Riley McKnight steps up and gets a bloop-single to left field and the War Eagles are in business with runners on first and second. Next batter is Alex Walker and he’s hit by the pitch and the bases are loaded with one out for Luken Baker. Baker flies one to right-field and for the second out and Foley tags up trying to score the game-tying run, but is tagged out trying to score and that’s the ballgame as Bryan takes it 3-2.

With the win Bryan takes a 1/2-game lead of sole possession of second place in District 14-5A at 5-2. With the loss Oak Ridge drops to 4-3 in district and 19-4 overall.
