THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Tyler Murphy and The Woodlands Highlanders high school lacrosse team traveled to Houston and defeated the Episcopal Knights (7-5, 4-4) 19-2 in a South District match-up on Tuesday night. The victory clinched a playoff bye for the Highlanders (15-4, 7-0) and they will advance straight to the Texas High School Lacrosse League Super Regional at Southlake Carroll high school on April 27.

Murphy went off for nine points on three goals and six assists in a game that saw The Woodlands playing their best lacrosse leading up to the post-season.

"Last year, we played our best lacrosse too early and by the time the playoffs rolled around we just weren't clicking on all cylinders. This year, we have gradually become better as the season rolled along and I still think we could play better." Coach Keith Tinle said. "I like our chances in the playoffs but we better be all over it when it is time to play the teams from Dallas because those teams are always good."

Anthony Good and Adam Lowell had four goals each. Graham Casey and Sean McCanna added three goals apiece and Brian Welling had a goal and four assists and was a virtual vacuum cleaner on the ground in sucking up 11 ground balls.

The Woodlands last regular season game is Thursday which will also be Senior Night as they take on Strake Jesuit in a South District tilt. Gametime is at 7:30pm but arrive early and help the team celebrate the careers of their graduating seniors.
