THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Kids bored yet? Sun, Fun and Friendships at Y Summer Camps! Summer is here and parents want to ensure their children are safe, supervised and engaged in activities that keep their minds and bodies active. The South Montgomery County YMCAs offer a variety of camp options for parents who are looking for a safe and fun place for their kids to build healthy mind, body and spirit this summer. YMCA Day Camp and summer youth activities reinforce the Y’s core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and faith.

Learn, Grow and Explore at the Y. No one creates camping experiences quite like the YMCA. For more than 125 years, children of all ages have discovered fun memories and friendships to last a lifetime. YMCA summer day camp provides youth with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Kids have fun while making new friends, developing new skills, building self-confidence appreciating teamwork and growing in self-reliance. We inspire kids to dream big and expand their horizons!

To ease parent’s peace of mind - What sets the Y summer camp program apart from other camps?


The YMCA summer camp program is a licensed camp program through the Texas Department of State Health Services ensuring the highest standards of compliance are met for the overall health, safety and wellbeing of each camper.

The YMCA offers lower camper to staff ratios.

ALL Y Camp Staff are background check, required to attend 40 hours of training, and are CPR, First Aid and AED certified.

Education enrichment opportunities such as literacy, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) are included in the weekly activities to help your camper learn, grow and explore.

Convenient shuttle bus from the Shadowbend Y to Creekside Y is available.

Care is available from 7am – 6:30pm for the working parent.

Pre and Post Care, 7 – 9am and 4:00 – 6:30pm, is included in the weekly session fee.

Registration is available for 1 day, 1 week or all summer long.

Three convenient camp locations

Summer Day Camp – It’s the Summer to Re-Discover Nature: This summer at the South Montgomery County YMCA, the Summer Day Camp Program will be located at the Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center. Reconnecting kids with nature, the Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center features a 50 foot alpine tower for climbing and challenging your inner self, 30 foot Giant Swing, 12 themed treehouses, 9 colorful authentic tipis, archery, hiking, misting station, outdoor chapel & amphitheater, and a boardwalk system 8 – 20 feet off the ground. Campers, ages 5 – 12, will have the ultimate outdoor experience with mother-nature as the backdrop. Additional activities include canoeing, outdoor education, songs and skits, team building, swimming and special events. Each weekly session features a special event and special in-house field trip. The field trips come to us! The centerpiece of the Creekside YMCA is the beautiful lodge for indoor activities and inclement weather options. Convenient Drop Off and Pick Up: For additional convenience, drop off and pick up is available at the Shadowbend YMCA. The bus will transport these campers to the Creekside YMCA at 8:30am and return them to Shadowbend YMCA at 4:30pm. . Limited space is available – Pre-registration is required.

NEW CAMP LOCATIONS THIS SUMMER:


Camp Piney Woods, for ages 6 – 12, is located at the Branch Crossing YMCA. If you are looking for a smaller camp environment for your child, then Camp Piney Woods is for you. Activities will include games, sports, weekly field trips, special event activities, sports, science enrichment, arts/crafts, swimming, songs & skits and much more. Care is available 7am – 6:30pm. Camp War Eagle, for ages 6 -12, located at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, is very convenient for families living in the Robinson Road and Rayford Road Area, east of I-45. Activities will include games, sports, weekly field trips, special event activities, devotionals, sports, science enrichment, arts/crafts, swimming, songs & skits and much more. Care is available 7am – 6:30pm. Space is very limited. For more information call 281-367-9622.

Specialty Camps: The Creekside Y will be offering specialty camps in addition to their Day Camp Program. Specialty camps will include Mad Science for ages 6 – 12; LEGO Camps for ages 5-12; Adventures in Art Camp for ages 6 – 12; Rocketry & Robotics Camp for ages 6 – 12; Nature Rangers Camp for ages 6 – 12; and Archery Camp for ages 8 – 12. Camp times vary from all day to 3 hours a day. For those campers needing additional care, wrap around care is available before and after specialty camp. For more info call 832.698.1283.

Teen Camp: The Y is proud to offer a teen camp experience in a safe atmosphere with highly trained, fun and energetic staff. Teen Camp, for ages 12 – 15, is filled with fun and exciting trips so your teen won’t feel like they are in a day camp environment but like they are hanging out with friends, fully enjoying their freedom. Weekly sessions are filled with activities include swimming, group games, field trips, climbing wall, Alpine Tower and Giant Swing, crafts, sports, community service projects, devotionals and much more. Weekly camp sessions run now thru August 22nd. Registration is still available for YMCA Summer Day Camp and Teen Camp. Shot record is required at the time of registration. Offered in 1 week sessions, camp hours are 9:00am – 4:00pm with early supervision available 7:00-9:00am and late supervision available 4:00-6:30pm. Online registration is available here. Space is limited. You can register for 1 day, 1 week or all summer long with scheduled payments.
