THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Operation Military Embrace (OME) is a Texas-based charity that aims to provide help and support to America’s military troops and their families. The work of this military support charity is very well summarized by their motto: sharing the cost of freedom. OME provides encouragement and support to the troops to let them know that people in the community truly appreciate and care about their hard work and dedication.

This organization is constantly trying to get people involved in efforts to help out troops that are in harm’s way by providing financial assistance and by raising the spirits of military members by letting them know that people back home are thankful for their bravery and sacrifice. Operation Military Embrace works towards completing their two primary goals: sending care packages and letters to troops, and providing free Post Exchange (PX) to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).

“We continue to show support and appreciation to our military by continuously sending care packages to the men and women of all branches of our military who are in harm’s way,” says Dennis Bernhart, volunteer at Operation Military Embrace.

OME sends packages to troops in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Iraq, and any other place where branches of the military are deployed. Among these packages are food items, toiletries, and much more, as well as letters from people of all ages. From drawing and collages done by young kids to notes of appreciation from teenagers and senior citizens, these items and words of encouragement received from community members are greatly appreciated by troops abroad. Receiving these wonderful packages really helps to lift their spirits and increase their morale by letting them know that people in the community value their courageous efforts.

“OME also provides help by ministering to our wounded warriors undergoing treatment at San Antonio Military Medical Center along with their caregivers at Christmas time by setting up a free PX,” says Bernhart.

They gather donated items and provide them for free to veterans getting treatment there. Donated objects for the free PX as well as the drawing include clothing items, gift cards, monetary donations, entertainment items, personal care, foods, etc.

Any amount of financial help as well as volunteer service is appreciated and can make a difference. Volunteers of this organization help with customs forms, labeling for packages, sorting donated items, packing boxes, and much more. “Volunteers do a range of things and are the key element of success in this charity,” says Bernhart.

To deliver donated items, contact Dennis Bernhart to find out where to arrange a time and place to meet to drop off items. A list of frequently requested items can be found here.
