Tigers run past War Eagles

SHENANDOAH, Texas -- The Oak Ridge War Eagles ended the football season 7-4 for the second straight year after falling to the Klein Collins Tigers 38-20 in a Region II-6A Division I game on Friday night at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

Klein Collins, which finished second to Westfield in District 15-6A, moved to 10-1 on the season as it jumped out to a 31-7 lead and held off a late Oak Ridge rally.

After Justin Pratt scored on a 69-yard run to give Klein Collins a 7-0 lead only 17 seconds into the game, Oak Ridge's Braden Letney hit Kwame Etwi with a 25-yard touchdown pass with 1:51 left in the first period to knot the game at 7-7.

The Tigers, however, took control of the game when Nate Edmonds scored on a 17-yard run and Collin Lester booted a 41-yard field goal with only 51 seconds left in the first half to give Klein Collins a 17-7 halftime advantaqge.

Pratt added a 49-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to up the lead to 24-7, and Nate Edmonds put the game out of reach with a 1-yard touchdown pluge with 1:32 left in the third.

Letney hit Lamar Handy with a 55-yard touchdown pass and Justin Edwards scored on a 30-yard run as Oak Ridge tried to rally late in the game. But Edmonds put the finishing touches on the victory with a 68-yard touchdown run early in the fourth period.

The Tigers ended the game with 475 yards rushing. Pratt had 246 yards rushing and Edmonds added 145.

Oak Ridge had 220 yards passing and 87 on the ground. Letney completed 17-of-30 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
