THE WOODLANDS, Texas — The University of Oklahoma recently announced an assistant hitting and outfield softball coach will be leaving the program and moving to The Woodlands. Tripp MacKay, who has served on the coaching staff at OU since 2007, will be joining the team at Scrap Yard Sports.

Tripp MacKay will leave his position at OU to join Scrap Yard Sports

MacKay was part of the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year and in 2013 was part of the staff named National Coaching Staff of the Year. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2000, and was drafted by the Montreal Expos after his successful collegiate career.

MacKay is no stranger to success as a coach, too. While at OU, the softball team won five Big 12 titles, two conference championships, and in 2013 they were the National Champions.

MacKay has been named the Director of Player Development for Scrap Yard Sports. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the sport of baseball through his coaching and playing experience. MacKay will be moving to The Woodlands with his wife, Holly, and their three children. He said the new position will allow him to spend more time with family.
