CISD Board of Trustees recognizes two TWHS athletes

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees gave special recognition to two athletes from The Woodlands High School at their meeting in June.

Ellyana Long, a junior, won the 2015 UIL Class 6A Girls' High Jump State Championship at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 15, 2015. She jumped 5’6” to be crowned the State High Jump Champion. Ellyana’s best jump of the season was 5’9.5”. Trustee Scott Kidd presented Ellyana with a plaque on behalf of the Board.

Adrian Piperi, a sophomore, won the 2015 UIL Class 6A Boys' Shot Put State Championship at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 15, 2015 with a throw of 65’5.25”, a personal best. On Saturday, May 16, 2015, Adrian won the 2015 UIL Class 6A Boys' Discus Throw at the same venue. His throw of 188’2” went nearly three feet farther than the second place winner. Trustee Skeeter Hubert presented Adrian with a plaque on behalf of the Board.

Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Dr. Curtis Null introduced the student athletes and coaches from The Woodlands High School expounded their talents.
