THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Sophie Walls and the Lady Highlander volleyball team took care of business on Tuesday night in what could be described as a reunion of sorts for former Montgomery boss/Woodlands coach, Terri Wade, as T-Wade and company swept the Lady Bears, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21.

Of the many qualities Walls brings to the floor for The Woodlands (18-2), the most impressive would be her unselfish play as evidenced by her dishing out a whopping 30 assists to go along with four kills, three digs and a block and a half.

The Woodlands came out like gangbusters in Set 1 as Grey Kennedy toed the line for four straight points to open the set and it looked like T-Wade was looking to send her former charges from Montgomery (7-8) back to the County Seat on the dreaded "yella dog" in record time. However, the Lady Bears had other ideas as they scrapped their way back with four straight points to tie things up at 10 on the strength of senior Libero, Jordyn Johnson's NCAA-like serve. Shortly thereafter, the Lady Highlanders got it back together as Bella Pinton jacked a perfect feed from Mia Primavera through the outstretched arms of Montgomery's all-everything Middle Blocker, Katelyn Elliott sandwiched by Hannah Hickman/Courtney Heiser kills to make it 15-11. Montgomery wouldn't get any closer as the Lady Highlanders rolled to a first set victory that was clinched with an emphatic Heiser bomb.

Set 2 saw the visitors go up 7-6 on a Hannah Shinn rocket that had the Lady Highlanders stuck in their shoes but things then started to fall apart quickly for the Lady Bears. With the set tied at 8, Primavera engineered six straight points with the help of Hickman's three kills, the last of which had eyes as the ball landed just inside the far left corner. Colby Quinn eventually made it 20-10 on one of her two aces in the match that brought Montgomery coach, Sheila Daniels up off the bench in a hurry calling a T/O in an attempt to restore order.

The first point after the Lady Bear T/O was the most exciting point of the match as on the 47th touch, Elliott slammed one home making Coach Daniels' T/O speech appear to be Rockne-esque. However, the deficit was too much to overcome for Montgomery and A.J. Koele sent a Walls feed home to clinch the set.

The final set saw Montgomery hang around enough to make the final set score look respectable and were down just 23-20 before they gave one back on a service error. Koele was clutch on match point ending it with a kill.

For The Woodlands, Hickman had seven kills, four digs, two blocks and an ace. Pinton had seven kills, three digs and a block. Koele threw down eight kills and a dig. Kennedy had two kills, six digs and an ace. Quinn had another consistent night with 14 digs and two aces. Heiser had three kills and a block. Skylar Scott had eight digs. Ally Haden contributed a kill and a dig while Hailey Reier had six kills, two digs and an assist.

For Montgomery, Elliott and Molly Scott had nine and five kills in order. Tara Chandler and Brittany Risner had 10 and eight assists respectively. Johnson had 21 digs as Shinn had 17.
