THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Find out “what your stuff says about you” from world-renown author of Snoop (Basic Books, 2009), Dr. Sam Gosling, during his presentation at Lone Star College-Montgomery on Thursday, March 29, at 12 p.m., in the college’s Performing Arts Center (Building D). A meet-and-greet reception will be held in the theatre lobby area immediately following the presentation.

The presentation is sponsored by the college’s Psychology Club and Psi Beta, the national honorary society for psychology students at LSC-Montgomery.

Gosling is an award-winning professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and a personality expert. During the presentation, Gosling will discuss how individuals select and craft their environments to suit their personalities; how people leave traces of their individuality in the spaces around them; and how others use these traces to form accurate and inaccurate impressions about the occupants.

For the book, Gosling dispatched teams of scientific investigators to “snoop” around bedrooms, offices, personal websites, social environments, and even iPods to determine what can be learned about people by simply looking at their belongings.

“ Dr. Gosling has made a name for himself in the psychology field and even mainstream media with his innovative research,” said Karen Buckman, professor of psychology at LSC-Montgomery. “He has many areas of interests and expertise and will offer students and community members an entertaining look into how personality and individuality is revealed in everyday life.”

Gosling’s work has been featured in The New York Times; Psychology Today; Blink (Back Bay Books, 2007) by Malcolm Gladwell; and on NPR and "Good Morning America.” Additionally, Gosling is the recipient of the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution. He lives in Austin, Texas.
