Highest Gas Prices Ever for Thanksgiving
Houston, TX –— The 2.8 million Texans hitting the roadways for the holiday are paying the highest prices ever for a gallon of gasoline during Thanksgiving, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average posted a weekly decrease of one cent to $2.96 a gallon.
“Despite the slight decreases in gas prices this week, motorists are shelling out about 85 cents more for a gallon of gas this Thanksgiving holiday than in 2006,” said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. “Texas is one of only ten states with an average under $3.00 a gallon.”
Houston has the lowest average on the survey at $2.90 a gallon – basically no change since last week. Amarillo dropped seven cents but still has the highest average at $3.05 a gallon.
The nationwide average fell two cents to $3.09 a gallon.
