Standards and Permitting for Tree Removal and Storm Repairs
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, The Woodlands saw an extensive amount of trees that fell or were damaged. While the recovery effort is underway on individual lots and properties, it is important to remember that removal of any healthy tree requires submittal of application and approval.
If a tree is still living and is greater than six inches in diameter at a point two feet above natural grade, homeowners must receive prior written approval from the Residential Design Review Committee before removing it.
There have been reports of unscrupulous tree service companies giving incorrect information and overcharging. Please take steps to protect yourself by requesting proof of insurance and bonding, and inquiring whether there is a certified arborist on staff.
For additional information, a copy of the standards, or to obtain a tree removal application, please visit the Community Associations' Web site, and click Deed Restrictions, or call their office at 281-210-3800.
Storm Repairs: Applications for storm damage repair should be submitted to the Covenant Administration office of the Community Associations at 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive. The application process will be expedited so that repairs can be made quickly.
