The Farmer's Market Coordinator, Lorraine Richardson said the decision to extend was based on the farmers. "Most of the farmers felt that they would be prepared to supply enough produce to extend thru July 11th." Richardson said. "The vendors and the customers are who determine the dates of our market."

The Farmers Market, which was once located in Market Street, made its debut in Grogan's Mill in the Spring of 2008, when Market Street was unable to continue the event. Not wanting to completely close the Farmer's Market in this area, it was suggested that Grogan's Mill host the event which has become very popular.

"The Grogan's Mill Village Association was looking for just such an event to help promote the center,"
Richardson said.

Today the Grogan's Mill Spring Farmer's Market is hosts to more than a dozen vendors offering shoppers everythingd from fresh fruits and vegetables to various organic and natural meats, nuts and grains, indian food, fresh baked bread, oils, as well as soaps and lotions. There is even an on-site shredder for customers to bring paper items that they would like to dispose of privately.

"We are always looking for ways to expand our market," Richardson said. "We would love to bring in some new vendors. We would also love to have live, acoustic music, booths with recycling and/or environmental information/drop sights as this has become not only a community, but an event that draws people from all over county and is continually growing with every season."
