7-on-7: State pool pairings released

The 2012 Division I 7-on-7 State Championship pool pairings have been released.

The 64-team field will be divided into 16 four-team pools. Pool play will be conducted on Friday, July 20 with the championship rounds to be held on Saturday, July 21, beginning at 9 a.m. The tournament will be played in College Station on the campus of Texas A&M University. The championship game is slated for 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Kyle Field.

The Woodlands Highlanders will compete in Pool B with Corpus Flour Bluff, Mesquite Horn, and La Porte. The Highlanders take on La Porte at 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, before facing Horn at 3 p.m. and then Flour Bluff at 5 p.m. to complete pool play.

The only other team from District 14-5A to qualify was Lufkin. They’ll be in Pool E with Arlington Bowie, Manvel and San Antonio O’Connor.

Neighboring school Klein Collins will compete in Pool C with Corpus Christi Calallen, Southlake, and Stratford.
