THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The philosophy at Doctor’s Weight Control Center is not solely geared toward getting people to lose weight, but toward educating them about the causes and factors contributing to the American obesity epidemic. Once this foundation is laid, Dr. Larry A. Richardson gives guidance and motivation to make healthy lifestyle and dietary changes needed to reverse the trend in themselves and their families. This doesn’t mean teaching people how to ‘diet’ but instead training them how to eat properly, healthfully, and in ways that don’t adversely affect their metabolism.

“Doctor’s Weight Control is not just about weight loss but the maintenance of weight; a challenge for many people,” said Dr. Larry A. Richardson, who has over 26 years of bariatric training and experience.

Dr. Larry A. Richardson is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and has helped over 35,000 patients in the greater Houston area since 1986. As a licensed medical doctor, he has all the expertise to diagnose and treat obesity, as well as potential medical causes and complications related to being overweight – metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, elevated lipids and cholesterol, liver dysfunction, sluggish metabolism and so on. This allows diet and exercise guidance tailored for the specific individual’s needs.

Information is provided on how to survive in the real world, a world which promotes fatty foods and inactivity trends rather than promoting pre-packaged short-term foods that aren’t always available in most people’s lives, workplaces and social situations. Fad diets and ‘me too’ clinics hopping on the obesity treatment trend of the moment come and go, but Dr. Richardson and his Doctor’s Weight Control Center have shown since 1986 they are here for the long haul to meet the needs of overweight patients.
